Two Wrens went to mow
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bexley.
- Friday, 14th of May 2021
GoodGymers Sarah and Johnny Wren ran to Mr W's home to help tidy and mow the lawn in his back garden.
Mr W's step-sister, who has been staying with him during lockdown, explained that the lovely purple and white buddleia started life as cuttings brought back from Wales by Mr W's wife when she returned from evacuation during the war.
Sarah got to work on the patio, tidying wind-scattered flowerpots into stacks, and pulling weeds and rampant strawberry runners from between the paving slabs.
Johnny focused on the lawn. Before any mowing he needed to cut back the overhanging bushes and get rid of brambles and weeds, equipped only with a rust-encrusted pair of edging shears. However, there was a lawn mower which did it's best with the long wet grass.
With the toppled-over bird table righted, a final sweep of the patio and ten bags of cuttings and grass put out for the weekly waste collection, the garden definitely looked neater than before.
