Tonight I met up with Kenny for a mission in Camden for Mr L.

Mr L contacted Age UK as he needed an old sofa removed before a new sofa could be delivered. GoodGym were asked if we could help out with this.

Arriving in a darkened side street, I spent a few minutes feeling slightly lost before I spotted a figure cycling slowly down the street. It's times like this that you just have to trust your gut instincts: "Kenny!", I yelled. I was right. Even better, Kenny was more sensible about finding the address than I was, so it was only a few minutes longer before we were knocking at Mr L's and making our hellos.

Pleasantries done, we were shown up a flight of stairs and were greeted by a partially unfolded sofa bed that was standing vertically around the upper newel in much the same manner as a teenager around an empty fridge. Like most sofa beds I've encountered in GoodGym, this model was recalcitrant and didn't want to assume it's pure sofa-form, strongly preferring it's semi-folded state.

After an eternity of trying to fold the bed back in, Kenny had the smart idea of rotating the sofa back into a horizontal position and trying to fold it from there. With the sofa now lounging, a problem with the folding mechanism was uncovered: there was an errant spring that was stopping the mechanism from fully sliding in. Problem identified, Kenny was mere minutes in providing a solution (simply removing the spring ๐Ÿ˜„).

Problematic spring removed, it took relatively little effort to take the sofa bed down the stairs and place it outside for collection (admittedly with a brief pause for Kenny to take off the front door handle to give us some extra clearance).

Feeling incredibly smug about removing the sofa, we threw in an extra good deed for Mr L by taking down a Venetian blind in his bathroom. We then showed him some big Buddha pictures (don't ask), and made our goodbyes into the darkened streets.

It was lovely working with you, Kenny. Thanks for all your help and hope to see you at Camden some day! ๐Ÿ˜„
