The Earth Moved

Local girl Linda walked down to the station and relieved the outside planters of a curious array of detritus. Cigarette ends🚬, chewing gum, sweet wrappers 🍬, banana skins 🍌 and chicken bones 🦴! Come on people of Hainault the bins are right next to the planters!

James also arrived by foot and we waited inside Hainault Station for Anit coming in from Wanstead who surprised us by arriving by bike. Another GGR cyclist 🚴🏻‍♀️ 😁

We started moving the planters from the ticket office to our storage area and we’re joined by a guy we thought to be a new member, turned out he was kind stranger who had just come in to enquire about lost property. One of those occasions that restores your faith in human nature.🫶

Anit and Linda began transferring the earth from the planters to the compost bag. As there was only room for two on that job James decided to give the planters under the bridge some water. The Station Master popped his head round concerned about how much room storing the planters would take. We reassured him we were health and safety conscious and things would be left safe and tidy. 😉

There was only enough room in the bag for two planters worth of soil so we rescued the two surviving plants 🪴 from it and stacked it underneath the empty ones. After a quick sweep 🧹 up we invited the Station Master to take a look and he was happy with how things were left.

Anit and Linda then joined James in finishing the watering before going on a brisk 4km walk dropping Linda off near her home on the way.

Considering there was only three of us we were pleased how much got done in a short amount of time. Good Team Work from GGR as always. 👍
