For most people Sunday mornings are a moment for quiet reflection, coffee and newspapers or a much-needed extended lie in bed. However GoodGym runners are not “most people” and Frances, Gina, Kike and myself are not “most GoodGym runners”. Arriving to the sound of gospel choir music from the local community centre, and overlooking the Maygrove Peace Park (containing a statue by some bloke called Anthony Gormley - name rings a bell….), our dedicated group got themselves tooled up with a variety of chopping instruments to tackle an unruly tree that was blocking Mrs S’s view from her kitchen window.

The task was almost balletic with each person wielding their blades in perfect harmony - Gina’s saw making light work of the tougher branches, Frances secateurs clipping with clinical precision and the Kike’s shears creating a whirlwind of activity. It was hard graft. Two hours (and several scratches) later the tree was back under control, and under my expert bag stuffing tutelage we were all tidied up and ready for some well-deserved sustenance.

Another GoodGym missions accomplished! On to the next one…..
