Report written by James Smith
Four great GoodGymers galloped a gigantic 450 meters to assist Peter and his team at the Barnsley Churches Drop-in Project. On arrival at the project there were already queues of people waiting to receive food and clothing at the door. There was no time to lose!
We found Peter and the usual crew of helpers inside and got our instructions... sandwich production-line party time again! Woop woop! Salubrious spreader Kat coated (buttered) the baps, Celine sliced the cheese, Kirsty compiled the creations, and James just bagged them up. We made several bags containing 10 sandwiches of ham and cheese to be "hamded" out at the door in a non ham fisted way! The excess were stored in the fridge for the next day.
After this, it was straight onto the next task... no rest for the.... wicked!?...wonderful!! Sorting clothes and bedding donations according to type, size and gender. Quick quality checking all the way.
All done, we headed off for a fun fitness session in the local park. First each person found a spot on a bench to do 10 tricep dips, when this was completed you run a lap of the pocket park. Next 10 squats, and another lap. Finally 10 pushups and we were done. Suitably sweated up it was time for stretching and slinking off.
Until next time...
Providing a hot meal and support for the homeless, addicted and those in need.
