Mission

(Spam Wars) Return of the J...

1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Camden.

Two Fridays ago (in what now does seem a galaxy far far away) I pressed the buzzer for Ms J's flat, but got no reply. Having waited and tried both her buzzer and phone again, it seemed she wasn't home, or if she was...well, how to find out... Some quick messaging between GG Central (thanks Ellie) and Age UK told us that Ms J had been taken into hospital earlier in the week.

It was with some relief then that the call for shopping assistance re-appeared again this week for Ms J's regular Friday shop - she told me she'd been home since Tuesday and whilst certainly not 100% ("it's my breathing"...), was at least well enough to be discharged. Her post it list was its usual mix, and she apologised if she'd spelt "Spam" incorrectly...

The world's politest supermarket was an oasis of calm as ever, and after much deliberation at the bacon shelves, and a friendly chat with the now familiar lady at the checkout, I was soon back to Ms J's for the ritual exchange of goods for a decent slathering of antibacterial hand gel. I left feeling very glad that normal service had once again resumed in this little corner of Camden.
