Today Barnet and Ealing joined forces to move furniture for Mrs and Mr D to make room for a hospital bed arriving the next day so that the couple can sleep in more comfortable conditions. Two goodgymers were joined by a neighbour with a heart of gold who seemed to be a perfect Good Gym recruit! She lent us a hand carrying the furniture and served as our navigator in the unfamiliar building. We resisted the temptation to joyfully drop a sofa, a double bed with a mattress and two armchairs through the railing from the second floor and diligently made our way through narrow passages and steep steps downstairs. We had an excellent flexibility workout manoeuvring between coffee tables, clothing racks, toy cars and offbeat paintings. Knives were used - but only to do good - in place of screwdrivers to make the bed foldable. We finished off with setting up a tricky portable bed in the living room which involved a little bit of exercise for our brain cells but we made sure the bed was stable and safe to use. We hope that the mission will improve Mrs and Mr D's living conditions.
