Last year, some helpful GoodGymmers helped Mr M put up shelves in his flat; Africa and Lucy made the trip to St Margaret’s in Richmond Borough to lend a hand and help finish the job today.

Mr M was a very chatty gentleman, who welcomed us in to his home, and took great pleasure in practising his Spanish speaking skills with Madrilenian Africa - ‘¿Hablo Español?’ ‘¡Un Poquito!’.

We set to work on the task at hand - there were two shelves that needed erecting, and with a bit of guidance on what he wanted and where we would find various tools, in the ‘spirit level’ of GoodGym, we got to it. Holes were drilled, plugs were hammered, glue was spread and screws were screwed. Before long there were two excellent pieces of GoodGym craftsmanship (or craftsladyship) and two beautifully straight and sturdy shelves!

To test them out, the shelves were adorned with Mr M’s funky parrot and French clockpiece, and he was most pleased with the final results, and all the help the lovely runners of GoodGym have given him. A quick a ‘shelfie’ later and we were both off to do good elsewhere.
