It seems the cleaning staff is on holiday as well, so as a warm-up for the task, our little 'home' got a quick clean to welcome the dedicated Redbridge Runners.

With several brave team members recovering from the weekends adventures (Lakeland 100 & Dulwich Dynamo to name a few) and trainer James caught up in travel chaos returning from his adventures on the Isle of Man, it came down to Kris & Peter to hold down the ford and tackle the task at hand.

Where in previous summers painting the long wooden fence around our base, Wanstead Community House, was an ongoing project, this year we have started on the metal fences at the front. Step by step the wrought-iron fence gets scraped & primed, with today the first parts getting a fresh lick of shiny black paint as well, courtesy of Kris' steady hands. Time flew by chatting about all sorts, before we knew it it was time to pack the kit away and go for a stroll.

A slightly different route than usual led us to one of the sites of the recent grass fires on Wanstead flats. The fire department has done a great job controlling & limiting the fire, nature will soon bounce back, specially after the welcoming bit of rain at the weekend!

Good progress on the fence, a nice 4,5k run behind us, some stretches and off into the cooling evening air we went. Next week James will be back, leading us on what promises to be his 100th task!!
