The sun was out, the spirits were high and on the most beautiful day of the year, it was Fair-Game at the GoodGym Starter this Saturday.

On the 12th of the month, 5 GoodGymers met in Willesden to share their Saturday afternoon with the grateful community of Brent.

The Harlesden Town Team were host to a community action day at the regular task site - Harlesden Town Gardens and what better way to introduce some newbie, first timers to the delights of the borough than to combine with a Brent Starter session.

Meeting bang on time, Irfaan and Tushar breezed into base camp up for the challenge ahead! "We've been signed up for some time but never had the chance to come down until today!" Their patience had paid off, as they were rewarded on this particular Saturday, with glorious sun and blue skies.

A warm welcome and housekeeping followed where Coach Ellie introduced them to the mix, with regulars Hannah and Dan offering cheerful hellos.

Once the details were sorted and briefing complete, the team set off (minus DAN who'd forgotten his trainers...... thinking on his feet orchestrated a quick cycle home to retrieve) A comfortable 1.6k jaunt followed, carrying the crew through the winding paths of Queens Way and up to Challenge Close...... perfectly named host for the task ahead.

Greeted with glee by the Harlesden team, The Goodgymers arrived at the wonderful scenes of community fun....... with a bouncy castle and cake stalls to boot!!!! Straight away getting stuck in to the numerous jobs at hand: * Weeding * Watering * Raking * litter picking

Plenty to do and with GG Leaflets to distribute about as well, there really was no time to lose.

After 40mins of "task circuits", the time checker flag was raised and once again the team were on the move. With the same route back the distance was clear and the new boys wanted to sweat!!! To achieve their goal the sprints were underway - through the park and up the hill and they smashed it leaving Coach Ellie behind in their wake. Big props to Hannah on her 5th only run of all time!!! Happy to see her confidence soaring, ready to tackle bournemouth 10k next month.

Stretches and chatter to finish and the starter was over...... such a shame!!! But no fear, we'll be back again on Monday at 6.45pm for our regular slot doing swift, sweaty, smiley good deeds across the beloved borough of our FAIR BRENT

DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE.
