Roz and Ady enjoyed a brief window of sunshine yesterday, and arrived to an equally warm welcome from Mrs S. After introducing herself and her shared-ownership cat, Mrs S showed us her notes and plan for the memorial garden for her late mother.

We borrowed some tools from her neighbour, chatted through the plan and got to work digging up the semi-circle whilst being thoughtfully surveyed by the friendly kitty. Mrs S explained that she thought she wasn't very green fingered (Mrs S, not the cat), but did a sterling job of twisting out the weeds, whilst we tried to avoid the roots for the giant tree behind us.

After completing the weeding, and installing some weed-fighting membrane and mini-fencing, we borrowed some mobility aids from the communal area, and transported decorative gravel and three very beautiful stepping stones from the garage to the garden. Mrs S was delighted with these, because she didn't expect to find them that day, and even got a bit of a bargain.

We realised that we didn't have enough stones to cover the area, but Mrs S made plans to get some more. It was a fantastic start though, and Mrs S was more than happy that it was taking shape. Stay tuned for part 2!
