GoodGym Brent's Bank Holiday takeover.

On another drizzly summers eve, the cheerful and sunny GoodGym Brent crew bucked the carnival trend in favour of community action and support.

Always a fabulous host to us when we are homeless for the hols, Mosaic Youth Centre on Kilburn High Road, welcomed with opened arms and trays of fairy cakes for the dedicated task force for the night.

Coach Ellie welcomed 2 new faces, but not new to GG...... A black t shirt in our midst - Beth from Lambeth and joining her was Patrick from Hackney, a most welcome hybrid of boroughs. Making up the familiar face crew were Hannah 4th run in, Isabelle freshly back from holiday and Lucasz bringing the jokes from the moment we arrived.

Lukasz went onto to explain about the centre and the fact that they are under threat of closure right now. Funding has been cut on most things and the place was becoming shabby as the cleaning budget had well and truly dried up.

The threat of closure is drastic news as Mosaic is one of only 3 youth centres London wide that serve the youth LGBT Community in the capital. Upon hearing there was a petition we jumped on the opportunity to fight the good fight!!! (Details of the petition will follow so please sign and support)

After the sad news we gathered stock, determined to give back to this fantastic organisation. The task was presented and it was WINDOWS throughout, the cleanest dirty windows we've ever seen mind you, but we buffed and shined none the less.

Lifting our spirits was Patrick's and his DJ soundtrack of pure MJ all the way. Those windows were so sparkling by the end that we could definitely see our very own man in the mirror Patrick's reflection of course.......

After the clean up we headed to the track where a serious warm-up and drill session took centre stage. Spurred on by the threat of use of Ellie's new massive purple whistle, the team got stuck into: * Flick kicks * Squats * Lightbulbs * Hop overs * Splits To name but a few, followed by a series of 60-80% pace tracked and timed track runs - 100's, 200's and 400's to finish.

With a big stretch and cake devouring to finish, the session was at a close and bank holiday was too.

Until we meet again - this hybrid crew is out!!

DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE
