I spent a happy morning with Alex and his support worker Will helping to maintain the garden at his home in a supported living facility run by United Response. Grand ambitions for a Japanese garden are curtailed by it being a rented property but there was plenty to weeding, raking and heron watching to do at Will's instructions. Conversation was eclectic, covering Henry VIII, Blackadder and Norse mythology.

Will and Alex were incredibly welcoming and it is worth noting for future missions there is bacon and rolls in the freezer for the 12 runners they were expecting (with a promise of vegetarian alternatives).
