Judith and Gosia met up today in Wandsworth to help out Ms Mary in tidying up her front garden – pulling up weeds and cutting back few plants. After the arrival, we immediately noticed that the space is really neglected and requires a lot of work to make it nice and tidy. Ms Mary couldn’t do it herself, as she had an accident few weeks ago, now needs to stay in bed until she fully recovers.

Ms Mary’s son let us in and we started the work straight away (seeing the space in this state really make you want to get on with things asap). We haven’t had many tools provided, but the task included mainly pulling up the weeds and picking up cut-off branches so we beautifully managed this task with just a pair of decent garden gloves.

There was a lot of different plants in the garden, sometimes hard to recognize which of them are to stay or to go. Under an impressive layer of weeds we ‘discovered’ small vegetable garden with onions, potatoes and parsley (I think). It was quite satisfying to be able to uncover these beauties and clear the space around them - giving them much more light and helping to breath.

The job was going quite slow because there was a lot to do on each square meter. We haven’t managed to tidy up the whole garden but at least made a nice start. We focused mainly the part around the front door and arrived about a half way to the gate. Just before we head off, Mr Mary called us and thanked for the work we have done. We explained how far we have got and suggested scheduling another mission in the nearest time to continue the work. It will be definitely worth to sort out before the winter comes.
