It was a surprisingly sunny day, after the foggy morning we had - which made great conditions to work under.

Lindy and I turned up and helped with moving a few pieces that had been identified for some recycling, to be used in the gardens. We then made quick work of shifting the compost - big fat maggots and worms included. And lastly, we continued Sam's work (looked very tidy - Kudos to Sam!) on laying cardboard and mulch on the wilder patch the Thorlands team are developing. A good amount of work for a Saturday morning.

Thorlands Garden
The first Camberwell market garden in over fifty years

Thorlands Gardens is a food growing club based on an east Lambeth housing estate, in Camberwell. There was a shared vision to move forward with a zero miles food project on unused and unloved brownfield spaces. There was an understanding that residents of all ages could volunteer simply for the value that experience gives to individual wellbeing. There is also the added bonus of sharing the fruits of the labour, which in this case is healthy produce, such as vegetables, salads, herbs, and edible flowers.
