Today I was running slightly late as I had the joys of a visit to the dentist first, which overran slightly. Never the less Mr D, as always was really pleased to see me, and greeted me with a beaming smile. I explained why I was late, and this sequed neatly into a conversation about memories of dentists. Mr D was happy to tell me about his 4 front teeth - and with that twinkle in his eye assured me that, no, he doesn't want two of them for Christmas. After several fillings and other nonsense (as he put it) he eventually had all 4 taken out and has a great set of new teeth attached to gold posts. He was keen to emphasise that the posts are gold. We joked that he should have given his own teeth to the tooth fairy as it would have helped to soften the hurt not caused by the dental work itself, but the pain from the bill!!!

All this talk about dentist had us both ready for a cuppa. Mr D once again produced a pack of Tesco Finest Lattice Mince Pies, and I was pleased that there was only one tasty treat today. However once I was sat down with my cuppa, he pottered off to the kitchen again and came back brandishing not one, but two chocolate rolls. I couldn't decide if thought I was greedy or looked undernourished and tried to refuse. But he was having none of it. He said I could have one for later after my dinner but that it would be rude if I was sat munching on chocolate while my hubby had nothing so he insisted that the other one was for him-indoors. him-indoors. At least I had again bought him a baguettine from Sainsbury's so l didn't feel too guilty. And he was delighted that again he would be able to have a lovely crusty sandwich for his tea. It was nice and warm in Mr D's front room, and it's hard not too get to comfy, especially on a grey old day like today. But having talked about Christmas plans, my recent evening out, a concert, jazz music and a lot more beside I had to tear myself away from the sofa and make my way out into the rain. Mr D wished me happy Christmas but I will hopefully visit him before Christmas Day if I can. Anything for another of his delicious mince pies and a chocolate roll for afters!
