After warming up battling bushes and brambles at the Saturday group run to the Northern Slopes, Dave, Deb and Sarah were more than ready to help Ms A with cleaning up her garden in Totterdown. Although still injured, the fantastic Fiona joined us in our mission.

In expectation of a slashing and bashing through overgrowth, we were pleasantly surprised by the rather neat condition of the garden. Ms A’s request to prune three trees seemed too easy.

Our enthusiasm was unstoppable despite limited functionality of the provided garden tools. In best GoodGym manner, we activated our MacGyver powers to tackle our mission. Dave balanced fearlessly on a step ladder whilst pruning the tallest tree with a KITCHEN KNIFE while we three girls fought with the branches on ground level.

When a neighbour came to give us better tools, we could finally get into full swing and pruned the trees in no time.

Ms A seemed happy about our visit and promised to invite us soon again.

Great job all,

Sarah

Thanks for writing this great report Sarah and to Deb for the photos and to Fi for scooting off home to get me something more suitable for branch cutting than a kitchen knife!! It was a lovely afternoon with you girls :-)
