Today’s blustery balmy Spring weather was perfect for pruning and tidying Ms A’s garden, taking care to work around her pretty shrub already in bloom. It was a bit too wet for mowing but I managed to use a shovel and shears to clear the path leading across the grass. I also removed litter and weeds from the concrete area outside the back door, making it safer and less slippery to walk on. I wanted to avoid using plastic bags for the clippings – mostly dead twigs and invasive bramble shoots – so instead I moved them to a spot underneath climbing plants at the end of the garden, where they will rot down and provide a haven for wildlife.
