13 do gooders hit the tarmac and scrapped paint off railing at the Kori Community centre playground.

shouts out to Sarah & Nesta

Come 6:45 people started to arrive at our Tottenham Green Leisure centre HQ. We were very happy to welcome two new participants to the squad – shouts out to Sarah & Nesta. After a quick briefing and warm up we set off in search of this week’s light at Kori Community Centre. We were planning to go along to the Lordship Rec but this fell through last minute unfortunately. En route to the centre we stopped off for our usual #BridgePic before splitting into three groups to ensure everyone ran at a pace that was comfortable for them.

They were very inquisitive and joined us in a few laps around the playground

On arriving at the centre we were greeted by a large group of children who use the playground. They were very inquisitive and joined us in a few laps around the playground before we got to work. This was a really good opportunity for our do gooders to meet users of the project that we were helping. The children went on to ask a load of questions like – why do you do this stuff and who pays for the equipment that you use. I went on to explain what a volunteer is and that we love to help out in the local community. After planting this seed in their heads and letting them know that they were invited to the community gathering / volunteering day we are planning on the estate, we got stuck in with scrapping the railings in preparation for painting them at a later date.

Clear up commenced

As we scrapped everyone one seemed to work away merrily as the children looked on (from a safe distance). I then went around and took our silly face off competition pictures. We have some very strong contenders this week. During our scrape off I delivered some refreshments to the group just before running out of time. Clear up commenced then we had a round of high fives. As we were leaving Janus mentioned that he thought he'd lost his phone. We all had a little look in the area we were working in but to no avail.

#CSISTYLE

On returning we did our usual sprint finish then banded together to comb the area in search of Janus’s phone but it was nowhere to be found. We then headed into warm down and stretch. That done we said our goodbyes and headed home to feed our bellies. Just to let everyone know – I received a text from Janus who found his phone at home. I was, of course, glad to hear this and I was also glad we all had a look for the phone outside HQ as one or two of us always wanted to comb an area and I had always wanted to say “let’s comb the area” #CSISTYLE =)

Until next week folks – stay fit, do good and look out for the light!
