Got an email about a mission for Mrs M. Twenty minutes later got another email about a mission for Mrs M, ‘Last chance to help out with a practical task...’.

Being the generous and wholesome person I am, I agreed to collect an urgent prescription for Mrs M. Work finished (although still a bit risky, as I was on call. Imagine that, picking up the prescription for Mrs M before the pharmacy shuts at 6:30 and delivering it, or going back in to work to save lives. Tough call. But luckily no calls!) and I was Med-dy to get cycling from Isleworth to Battersea. There was no need to rush, I had loads of time, hardly even 5:15 when I popped my face mask on, walked right in and out again from the local pharmacy with Mrs M’s meds. Across the road, dropped them off. Mrs M looked curious as I handed over the paper bag, but thanked me and off I went. Job’s a good’un. Then there was a yell - Mrs M from her balcony; ‘There’s more stuff that needs collecting’. Okay. Fine. Back to the pharmacy for me!

In the probable four and a half minutes between leaving and returning to the shop, a queue of two people had built up outside. Plus three people in the shop. Good thing time was on my side, as I waiting patient-ly to come in. ‘Back so soon?’ the pharmacist smiled, and I explained the situation. After a wait that felt like a pill-ion years (okay ten minutes and 34 seconds) the pharmacist handed over a gigantic bag of tablets, creams, potions, lotions, pills and sprays. All for Mrs M. No wonder she looked confused when I handed her over one tiny bag.

After signing my life away on the various prescription forms, it was back to Mrs N’s take two. This time, I was armed with what we had and what we didn’t have (some stuff wasn’t in stock) and Mrs M looked relieved. Job’s a good’un for sure this time, and I med-alled my bike back home. (For those who are interested, I didn’t get called in at work, had dinner cooked for me and had cuddles with a very cute bichon frise, so a winner all around).
