Kash & Sevan arrived at Ms J's house in their classic blue Anti-Pesto van, eager to find out what problems they'd be solving today.

Ms J offered them a cup of tea, which sounded like it would be lovely with some Wensleydale and crackers. There was work to get on with though, so after a swift glass of water, they headed into the garden.

Ms J explained that there was a low entry into her garden and that Kash & Sevan should watch their heads. Sure enough, on the steps up to the garden, there were branches that blocked the way a metre off the ground. The GoodGymers ducked under while Ms J managed to walk through.

"Tools, that's what this needs"

Ms J's first job was to raise the arch so that average height people could enter the garden. Kash investigated and found that the thin wire structure of the arch had buckled under the weight of the plants above. There was no obvious way to fix it. Ms J had solved problems like this before and had a creative contraption in mind.

Get the pitchfork to hold up the arch

A pitchfork?! 😈 Looking around the garden, Kash & Sevan found handles embedded in bushes. Sevan was pointed to one such handle. He untangled it from the bush to find a multipurpose rake. Sevan stood under the arch and pushed the branches higher while Kash propped the rake underneath. Job done...

"Better find some more tools for this job, Gromit"

Next, Ms J wanted to cut the tallest branches of her rose bush which were well over 3 metres high. How? Using the multipurpose rake and some dodgy shears. The structural arch support was dismantled and the rake used to pull the tallest branches down. Kash and Sevan took turns at hooking the highest branches with the other chopping them up.

The arch was rebuilt for a second time. Kash and Sevan hoped that the rake wouldn't be needed again for another task.

"Can't fix this, I need more tools"

Finally, Ms J asked the duo to push a large, floppy bush up and over the side wall of the garden. This was the bush that the multipurpose rake was originally embedded in and holding up. Looking around the garden, all of the rakes were already in use to hold vegetation in place so couldn't be used.

Ms J asked the team if a wooden pole placed on top of the wall would hold it up. Kash and Sevan explained to Ms J that this contraption was destined to fail and that some more serious support was needed to stop it falling back down. They couldn't find the right tool for this task, so Ms J said that she'd call in a professional gardener to sort it out.

With that, Kash and Sevan left Ms J to enjoy her newly tidied garden.
