8 GoodGymers braved the heavy rain to get fit by doing good last night, transforming two overgrown flower beds in a community allotment!

Wow the weather was crazy all day yesterday and the rain did not stop for our good deed either! But as we all know there is no bad weather when it comes to our GoodGym sessions, just bad clothes he he he!

It was amazing to see how much we managed in just over an hour! We weeded, dug up roots, turned the soil, made friends with slow-worms and got very muddy indeed! Whilst working we had a little chat about what GoodGym means to us all...

Sometimes the best thing with GoodGym is the element of surprise that it adds to the week! You never really know exactly what the task will bring you or which part of the city you will discover, but it is such a welcomed break from the ordinary and gives you a great feeling of purpose!

Fleur, the task owner had baked some cakes which were lovely and she also took a moment to tell us about the many community groups that use the allotment as a way of improving mental health, get closer to nature, to wind down and recharge. Much needed, especially after the weird and uncertain year we have had.

Huge shout out to all of you for turning up with smiles and laughter and for working so hard! See you all soon! Keep running, keep smiling and keep doing good!

This task supported

A democratic community where people who have experiences, beliefs, and feelings that have sometimes been labelled as mental illness are welcomed and can talk about these experiences freely, safely and without judgement; a place to participate in friendship, support, learning, teaching, discussion, being active, and making a valid contribution both within the collective and the wider community.
