10 speedy runners ran over 5 miles to flyer for the Lee Food Assembly!

A decent turnout last night for a cold October evening! We welcomed some new faces Henry and Giuseppe. I say new faces although these guys did some good deeds earlier on this year and are just back after a break, so welcome! Stacey was back after killing it at the flyering task last week, and with a cold and everything, good effort!!! Alex was back after his half marathon success in Cardiff and Vickie was rocking that awesome GoodGym sweatshirt!! NICE!

We dumped our bags in the room then wandered over for the warm up. It was pretty much dark by this point and in the distance we could see a little red figure running towards us. Is it a bird?! Is it a plane?! No it was Amy! Making a dramatic entrance as usual haha! Glad you could make it, great timing!

Rock, paper, scissors, burpee!

For the warm up, we used the quad to run around then you had to partner up with someone, play a little game of rock paper scissors, if you win you go about your business running round, if you lose, the punishment was 3 burpees! What happens in the case of a draw, I hear you ask?! Well, if you draw you play again but the amount of burpees gets added up from the time before so if you lose twice you have to do 6, if you lose three then it's 9 big ones and so on! So it adds that teeeeeeny bit of pressure! After a few minutes I think it was safe to say everyone was warm so we came together while Tom was finishing off his 9 burpees mwahahahaha!

A group photo over in the light of the building and we were ready to go!

We set off towards the park, but sadly in October it closes at 7 and I didn't want to risk getting locked in so we had to go around instead. A nice big hill to start off with (sorry) and then once we hit Blackheath Common it was relatively flattish. Christian took the lead on this one as we were in his old neck of the woods so he knew some nice little residential areas we could shift our leaflets. After 2 miles or so we reached the first street and we stopped while I handed out a little pile of flyers to everyone and then off they went!

The first 15 minutes or so we spent in the little streets and neighbouring closes, and then we hit the massive mansions with driveways, double garages, front gardens, pillars, golden gargoyles and fancy cars etc. They would definitely be the type to buy local produce ;) We were running low on leaflets but everyone redistributed and then by about 8 o'clock we were done woohoo!!

Dead end!

Ben directed us home, down a few cul-de-sacs hahaha but eventually we found our way back to the main road and we were on the home straight! This was the chance to push it, especially with the downhill in your favour! And like a rocket they were off!

So we reconvened back at base camp for a little fitness session, we just about had time to squeeze it in! I thought we'd do a little agility workout on the steps. First we did 3 runs up and down, making sure to step on every step, then we did the same thing but touching each step with both feet so really gets your brain thinking about your footing and you have to be right on your toes nice and agile! Next we did some little taps on the first step, and then finally we finished off with some squat jumps forward and back.

And then we were DONE!!!

Greenwich Goodies!!!

So on Tuesday, I covered at GoodGym Barnet and they do a thing called Barnet Biscuits where every week someone brings in some biscuits for the end of the run, which I thought was an amazing idea and decided to pinch it for Greenwich! And #GreenwichGoodies was born! We had some nice little M&S salted caramel millionaire crispy bites which were amazing if I do say so myself. Hope you guys enjoyed them! Let's make it a regular thing!

Thanks for getting so much done last night! We cleared all the flyers and spread the word for an amazing initiative so you should all be pleased and you covered a lot of ground too so really well done! See you next week for some window cleaning!
