We were blessed with goodness lastnight...

2 tasks and one mission ;-). Here's what went down.

Pallet cleansers

Tonight we finally answered the eternal question: 'How much wood would GoodGym shift if GoodGym could shift wood?'. We ran over to Save the Date Café in Dalton, which intercepts food destined for landfill and prepares meals on a not for profit basis. Here, we shifted a vast quantity of plants, planks and pallets to free up some much needed space ahead of this Friday's big opening.

Pulling Up the Weeds and Rooting out the Beets.

Starting at a fair clip, and with someone sweeping up behind, a warm welcome meant my fear of being miles off the pace immediately vanished. We arrived, sweating, at Colverstone Primary School and met Myra who led us to the narrow strip of Hackney garden round the back. The phrase 'many hands make light work' has probably been overused in these blogs but it certainly proved the case tonight. Out came the weeds, the half dead plants, and the bags of old plastic bottles - and in stayed the strawberries. Fantastic looking beetroots were pulled out - but not thrown - Some good-gymer with good luck is dining on borscht soup tonight.

Anyway, once the cheesy vomit, Skoll beer cans and strange heaps of orange peel were dealt with, the children can plant strawberries to their hearts desire. All in all it was a good job, well done. On the way back we were finished off by some cheeky last minute interval drills across the park. Not bad for a first go at the goodgymlife.
