Has the runner bean?

2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.

A lovely sunny Sunday morning greeted Rich and me as we ran over to Speedwell to help Mr M in his garden.

Sadly his wife who had been his carer and had also lovingly looked after the garden passed away recently, so we were asked to go over to lend a hand.

This involved mainly weeding and clearing brambles from around a cherry tree and other parts of the small back garden as well as clearing a small plot of runner beans, which unearthed some onions and tomato plants.

Making light work of the back, we had time to weed around the side of the house and into the front garden, where we were also able to pull up some dead plants, deadhead others and even manage a bit of pruning of the bushes.

Having been kept refreshed with cups of tea and glasses of squash we helped load the garden waste into Mr M’s daughter’s car, before Rich headed off on a long training run while I opted for a somewhat shorter effort!

Nice!
