At a recent Community in Action event in Barnet, I had the privilege of representing GoodGym Barnet and Tiny Forest. Hosted by Middlesex University and Barnet Council, this gathering brought together over 50 passionate individuals and local groups committed to fostering sustainability in our community.

The evening kicked off with introductions, setting the stage for a collaborative effort to enhance green spaces and promote sustainable living in Barnet. Notably, representatives from various groups shared their success stories, illustrating the positive impact achievable through community-driven initiatives.

Following these inspiring presentations, attendees were encouraged to join different groups focusing on specific sustainable activities within Barnet. A brainstorming session ensued, fueling creativity and generating innovative ideas. The question arose: Would these groups be willing to collaborate with the council to amplify their efforts and bring their visions to fruition?

In addition to the local groups' enthusiastic response, a presentation from Citizens UK emphasized the importance of building numbers to create a formidable lobbying group for sustainability. This underlined the need for collective action to drive meaningful change.

As a representative of GoodGym Barnet and Tiny Forest, I was proud to witness the genuine interest and commitment from all participating groups. The positive news is that these discussions are set to continue, facilitated by the council. This marks a significant step toward realizing a more sustainable and eco-friendly future for Barnet.

If you're passionate about making a difference and contributing to Barnet's journey towards net zero, now is the perfect time to get involved. Join groups like GoodGym and Tiny Forest, and be part of the community-driven initiatives that will shape a greener and more sustainable Barnet for generations to come. Your active participation can be a catalyst for positive change in our beloved community.
