We could feel it in our fingers, feel it in our toes..... It was Wet Wet Wet

After the most glorious weather weekend in all of September history, Monday was greeted once again with the drabbest down pouring of........ RAAAIIINNNNNNNNN

Rain, rain go away, come again..... but not on a Monday!

Despite the damp, coach Ellie was joined by a sensational crew of six, ready for the challenge ahead! This week was to support our old friends - Track Academy, the local youth athletics organisation, in the promotion of their winter season at Willesden SC.

Track Academy are an awesome organisation that service the local young people of Brent. Encouraging a positive and healthy alternative to hanging on street corners, GG Brent is always delighted to support them in their community outreach.

Without further a do, we set off into the night, with a warm-up in the form of the letter box challenge....... Get moving and get posting!! LETS GO!!

As we made our way down Chamberlayne Road, the flying was fast and furious, with many a letter box threatening to amputate limbs!! Despite the dangers, we weaved our way down the 1.5mile route towards Queens Park, home of ....... The 1 Mile Challenge.

Those that had completed it in the past are well aware that the circumference around the park is a 1 mile distance and a great place to test our speed!!

As we arrived the team began the prep for the mission ahead, with mobilising and muscle warm-up drills. With an array of mobilising completed: * High knees * High Hips * Flick kicks * Walking lunges * Skips The start line was approached....... One last call for action from Coach Ellie - "Remember the hips, drive the knees up" and it was 3,2,1 .....there're off!!!!

With a course record to beat (Ivo at 5.06mins back in Feb) The red tees disappeared like a flash into the night, leaving coach Ellie in a cloud of dust, pressing start on the stopwatch as the heels flicked out into the darkness.

As the minutes ticked past and the 5Min marker on the clock approached, in the distance a red t shirt was glowing....... could it be? Yes!!! Here comes Dan at break neck speed.

Blasting into base at a new course record of - 5mins 4 seconds!!!! AMAZING!! Even more impressive seeing as, this was with legs fresh of the back of a triathlon completed on Sunday as well!!!!! EPIC WORK.

In no time at all the rest of the crew hurtled in. Gasping and sweating, new PBs at every turn! This was a challenge that was truly demolished by GG Brent.

A cool down jog for the last mile home, a drop of the last flyers through the letterboxes of Willesden and before long we had made it back to base.

Stretches in the car-park, coupled with chats of burlesque....... Claire perhaps a new career for you in the midst? and the night drew to a close.

One last gush from Ellie: I say this every week, but this week has definitely been the most laughs and the most fun!!! What a team x x x x

Until next time :)

DO GOOD. FEEL GOOD. INSPIRE
