On an atmospheric, misty Saturday morning in December, Bryon & I ventured over to Folkestone Gardens in Deptford to help the DeptfordFolk community group with some spring bulb planting. The group are in charge of taking care of both the Gardens & Deptford Park just up the road to make the green spaces safe, accessible & enjoyable. Having been given 1000 bulbs of various plant varieties including onions, tulips & daffodils, us GoodGymmers & the volunteers from DeptfordFolk set to work on different areas of the gardens. It was great to see the locals both young and old joining in to plant the bulbs which we look forward to see in bloom at the start of next year. The planting preceded the Winter Solstice festival which included a fire pit, Morris dancers and a free sausage and mulled wine - which went down very well with us before we jogged back across the Thames after a job well done for our final mission of 2016!
