Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Steve Lee
Happy Saturday!
Intrepid GoodGymmers Meg and Steve, both regulars at Islington Goodgym were this afternoon headed to help out Ms M and her daughter on a very important mission.
We needed to move some furniture, tidy some boxes, and clear some space downstairs so that Ms M can have a hospital bed set up downstairs, and this in turn means that she can be discharged from hospital. These kind of missions can mean the world to people, and it makes a huge difference to recover at home.
It’s also a significant mission because THIS IS MEG’S FIRST MISSION! Whoop whoop and hurrah!
It could have started a bit more smoothly, but Steve followed the link on the email to an address in the opposite direction (always double-check addresses and links, folks!). Consequently, choosing to skip Parkrun that morning meant that karma now presented him with a fair way extra to run.
Ms M’s daughter welcomed us in and we quickly got started on the first, biggest task - moving a sofa that (just barely!) could fit out of the front door. Via pirouetting it in the living room. And cajoling it in the hallway. Then shoving it into the kitchen. And onto the staircase. And finally, with a heave and a gasp, out of the front door! Phew! Ms M’s daughter provided cheers of support and encouragement, and RnB bangers on her phone, from the viewing point of the kitchen.
After finally conquering the sofa, we set to work inside, moving boxes and bits n bobs from the living room to the upstairs bedroom to free up some space.
A final tidy and re-arrange will be needed, but this will help a great deal to pave the way for Ms M to come back home. Meg and Steve high-fived as we said goodbye to that pesky sofa, thanked Ms M’s daughter for her hospitality and encouragement, and headed out to enjoy the rest of our weekends!
