Coronation Suite.

Jack and I were met by Ms L at 8am this morning who provided us with some interesting background about Miss F's life (she's 100...) and had lived in her flat since the early 1960s when it was first built. Currently she is in hospital after a fall and so requires a medical bed put into her flat before she can return home.

Our task was to remove 3 chests of drawers, a chair, bed frame and mattress and finally a wardrobe, that Ms L warned us would be quite heavy. Miss F lives on the 11th floor - fortunately there was a decent size working lift, and equally handily an outside area on the ground floor where we could put all the unwanted furniture.

We quickly got to work moving some very dusty chests out - which judging by the weight had clearly been built in the era when things were built to last - and worked out we'd need to dismantle the bed frame to get it into the lift. Whilst I got on with that, Jack got on with emptying what seemed like a never ending amount of clothing from the wardrobe - and we were then ready to start shifting everything to ground level.

Whilst moving items around the room we came across an amazing piece of history in the form of a London Transport leaflet (still in excellent condition) that had been handed out to the public just prior to the coronation of the Queen in June 1953 - of course we had to take a couple of pictures of it! One wonders what other amazing historic treasures like this are tucked away in homes just like Miss F's around the country.

A few journeys up and down in the lift later, without encountering any other residents looking to go anywhere on a Monday morning, we'd got everything removed and reported back to Ms L, who was genuinely pleased with our efforts, speed and success in getting all the items removed - it was now over to her to give the room a good clean. With us both now lightly coated in a thin layer of antique dust, we said goodbye to Ms L and headed off into the Monday morning sunshine.
