Brambles are a thorny issue

After a 90-minute gardening community mission in Tower Hamlets, Leo and I ran to Mr F's house where we were tasked to give Mr F's garden a makeover by cutting back overgrown hedges, cutting grass and pulling up weeds. What we discovered instead once on site was a garden overrun with brambles, some of them several metres long.

Using shears provided by Mr F, we started cutting and pulling up metres and metres of thorny brambles, piling them up into garden waste bags. We then tackled the hedges, which hadn't been cut back for a few years, and removed all the dead grass and weeds we were able to. Much to my disappointment, no mower was needed... but much to our surprise, there turned out to be a paved area buried under all that dead vegetation!

An hour and a half of hard labour later we managed to fill up two massive garden waste bags that we then carried out to Mr F's front porch for the Council to pick up. We finished off with one last instruction to put away the mower into a shed that had obviously not been opened/used for a few years (judging by the amount of spider webs and snail excrement adorning the walls and door!), and said goodbye to Mr F who was very thankful his garden was finally cleared.
