12 do gooders turned up, took to the streets and task at the Lordship Rec

snuck upstairs to stash the prizes

First up was Dashing Dave who I’d much prefer on my team than Dodgy Dave but anyways. While we tinkered around outside the leisure centre Andy turned up. It was Andy’s first time and of course, we welcomed him with open arms. Great having you join us, Andy. Dave #2 then joined us (nice to see you again Dave). This week we were announcing the winner of the silly faceoff competition so I snuck upstairs to stash the prizes (choice from two) before we hit the streets. On my return, the group had gathered so we got started on the briefing, just then the legend that is Patrick arrived. We were set to go.

GGH TLC

With a quick stop off for a #BridgePic, we were off on our way to seek out the ray of light at the Rec who goes by the name of Andrew. This week’s task would involve us using maps to find benches in the Rec that needed some GGH TLC. On our arrival to the rec task owner Andrew who seemed to be basking in the sun as he awaited us gathered himself before dishing out wood stain, brushes and maps. We then sent 5 groups off into the Rec to find their bench and get staining. I whipped round to check on everyone and get some pics.

jamming to some cool sweet sounds

First stop was Ben and Patrick who were jamming to some cool sweet sounds coming from Patrick’s super cool lamp that plays music. I wanted to stay and kick it but I had others to visit. I then jumped in on a conversation Tilly and Katie we’re having with a lovely couple walking their dog. They introduced me as their boss, this felt strange so I mentioned I was merely the overseer. I joined in on their conversation about using the park, Park Run and local government.

These guys were smashing it

My next stop was Chris and Ollie who were trying their absolute best to stain an already (bird poo) stained bench. I think a good few more coats will be needed there. A shame these birds weren’t on a strict diet of blackberries ay. I then ran over to Dave #2 who had teamed up with Andy. These guys were smashing it; they had pretty much stained the whole bench and seemed pretty chuffed about it too – good stuff y’all. Last but not least I checked in with Sarah, Dave and Paul who also struggled to stain their bench due to something a little more obscene, I’ll leave that there *raise eyebrows - hand to mouth.

time trial

We were now running out of time but this was ok because everyone had managed to get one coat of stain on their benches and now looked forward to the time trial which was up next. We said our goodbyes to Andrew and headed over to the time trial location.

Time Trial results: Dashing Dave 2:04, Patrick 2:05, Chris 2:06, Dave #2 2:13, Ollie 2:14, Ben 2:14, Andy 2:15, Paul 2: 18, Tilly 2:29, Katie 2:43. Well done all - great effort.

tattoo arm sleeves

After a round of high fives, we made our way back to base with a sprint finish along the home straight. Stretches and a little rambling ensued before we awarded Paul Paget his Silly Faceoff prize - some tattoo arm sleeves. Well done Paul you really did earn them =D

Until NEXT WEEK folks

stay good, keep fit and look out for the light!
