Tonight's mission featured Anne and I as a furniture moving double act: we met up after work to help facilitate Mr R's discharge from hospital by moving some furniture from his living room to an upstairs bedroom moving in order to make space for a hospital bed.

Anne and I were welcomed into Mr R's home by his daughter. After having a look at the arrangement in his living room, we settled on moving a sofa, an armchair, and a coffee table upstairs in order to give the discharge team the biggest number of options for arranging the hospital bed.

This task was really two tasks in that there was a central "meaty" task of actually moving the furniture that was bookended by some prep work on either side. As this largely involved moving pictures onto and off the walls of the stairway, I've mentally labelled it as the moving picture show (I may have been influenced by some of the thespian artwork around Mr R's).

Hallway cleared of breakables (this is not my first furniture rodeo), the three of us carried all of the items upstairs. The only real hitch came with the armchair, which had an awkward set of legs for angling through doors. Luckily, I know a type of street magic that somehow blurs the edges of furniture: a couple of wiggles and the magic words ("I'm just going to L-shape it in"), and we were through! (I'm fairly sure Anne would have clapped and thrown some money into a hat if I'd proffered one).

We finished up the task by putting all of the pictures back into their original position (my skill being prep-work and general strength, and Anne's being a delicate and dextrous touch). This was probably the longest part of the task, although it may have simply felt like that because my job was mostly to fetch the picture frames, but not to touch them when hung (this sounds like a euphemism that I'm not going to elaborate on).

Regardless, everything was finished within an hour of our start time, and we said goodbye after taking at least one sweaty selfie. It was fun working with you, Anne! 🎉
