This Litter is 'Snow' Joke!!

It’s snowing out!!! Not a problem to us – rain, hail, shine, or snow, we’re out there doing what we do! And yes, we probably are slightly mad! But hey, we had a lovely evening, we got some fresh air, some exercise, tidied up our streets and had a lovely hour or so in the warm pub afterwards. What’s not to love?!

It was great to have Adele back with us tonight – sorry that your second task was another litter pick Adele, but we hope you enjoyed it all the same!

We started our evening with a warm up on the car park of the Duke of Gloucester (aka, The DOG). Fortunately, we didn’t get too many funny looks as the car park wasn’t too busy (thank goodness!) Once we’d warmed up, we split into two groups - Adele and Nigel took the walking route and Karen, Maurice and I did a run. It was definitely an evening for extra layers (0 degrees, maybe less!) but of course, we got warm once we started running. We covered 2 miles before meeting back up with Nigel and Adele who’d had a nice brisk walk of approximately 1.5 miles.

We took our pickers and our bags onto University Way and started to do a sweep of all the litter that’s most likely been thrown out of car windows onto the verges (sadly, there seems to be more and more litter on the side of the roads of these days ☹). We walked in the snow for about an hour and got a good 5 bags worth of discarded rubbish. It was cold and a bit wet from the snow, but we were happy with our efforts and felt chuffed with how much we collected. It was also really lovely to see the daffodils beginning to bloom - a sure sign that spring is on the way ❤

We wrapped up the evening with a drink, some crisps, a good natter and a warm up in the DOG. It was lovely as always to spend an evening with lovely people. Time just flew!
