On Sunday, three GoodGymers, Mark , Elliot and Andreana ran from three corners of London to meet at the house of Ms.G to help with a cellar move.

An Artist With Lots Of Wonderful Stuff

Ms.G is an artist with a large house in which she has lived for over 30 years, and now has plans to renovate, so there was a lot of wonderful stuff in there and a lot of work to be done - far too much for a single mission! So, after being given a brief tour of the home by Ms.G, and a rundown of everything she needed doing, we focused on clearing a single room, which was due to have the flooring raised for renovation. We began by rearranging the stuff in the adjoining room - various tables, chairs, and boxes of paperwork - to create more space, and we moved some valuable paintings down into the cellar for safe keeping. Then, we proceeded to shift a large chest of drawers, three chairs, a large mirror, several shoe holders (plus lots of shoes!!) and several crates of arts & crafts materials out of the room to be cleared, and into the space we had created. What we could not fit into the adjoining room, we moved down into the cellar, trying to ensure that Ms.G still had enough space to move around safely and have access to the things she needed access to.

Hero The Old Dog-Puppy

Ms.G's home is a real treasure trove of interesting artworks (all three of us got caught in the act of admiring a particularly colourful plastic chandelier at one point), and she also has a beautiful old dog called Hero who still behaves like a great big puppy despite his age, so it was a real pleasure to begin a mission that will require many more future mission-visits in order to help Ms.G get her home into the state she would like it to be in. We left what can only be described as 'organised chaos' in the cellar and adjoining room, but we also left one room entirely clear and ready for the renovation work that is to be completed.

The Builders Think We're Brilliant

Ms.G sent a photograph of the cleared room to her builders, who replied "You are brilliant", and she passed that message on to us GoodGymmers. We, however, were not so great at taking photographs, perhaps because there was so much other stuff to admire in Ms.G's house, and the logistics of where to shift things took quite a bit of thought, so taking photographs slipped our minds until we were outside and ready to go our separate ways again. We took a couple of quick selfies to compensate! I look forward to future missions at Ms.G's house, and hope that, with the help of GoodGym, Ms.G can get her home into the more manageable state she desires.
