Having Fun in Hainault

What a lovely sunny evening!

Such a lovely Monday evening to get out of the house and meet fellow goodgymmers! The sun was still quite high up in the sky and shining on us as we met at the station. Linda's hair was sparkling in the sun and lack of usual running gear suggested, it was going to be a walk night:)

// TASK

Picking litter: After initial chatter, we got our gloves on and litter picker and got to clearing out a very messy area by the station where everyone drops litter and cigarette butts. No one ever seem to clean it there so local residents have to deal with this. We've cleared the area between a hedge, where nothing growth, and then we put some compost from a planter we had left over. This is hopefully going to be a wildflower patch in summer! During litter picking we found all sort of 'goodies'. The the 'usual' fare was alcohol bottles and condom wrappers.... Then we also found a wrapped in bubble wrap something metal! Now, we've found knives there before but this looked a bit suspicious, maybe a hammer? Turned out to be a gold club but we bet it wasn't there by accident so we're glad we got this 'weapon' off the streets...

Planter care - watering, picking out rubbish: Whilst Linda continued litter picking a million cigarette butts, James and got some watering done for the planters under the bridge that despite torrential rain yesterday were very dry! Then we cleaned up the area where we store all our stuff and it felt good to get lots of mini jobs done.

//FITNESS ACTIVTY

Walking and Cycling: It was still very light and lovely so we decided to make our way to wonderful Fairlop Waters where we can now do our Monday runs - great nature reserve and wellbeing boost! Whilst James cycled, we walked to the park and all the way around Hainault for a good 4k workout. A nice way to chat and get some steps in.
