People of GoodGym, give a big cheer to Flo, Basia, Nicole and Faye who all came for their very first GoodGym session last night, and absolutely smashed through a tough task and fitness session! Great to have you join us.

After a quick run through about GoodGym, group runs, missions and coach running, we all grabbed a sponge and headed off round the corner to the tunnel in Battersea which we were tasked with cleaning. It has a tendency, sadly, to be a bit neglected, and we'd been asked by the local community centre and residents' association to see what we could do. Only too happy to, we said! There was some litter to sort out, but also some big old bits of graffiti that had appeared recently, and some serious elbow grease was needed. The local pub had kindly given us a bucket of water, so with that, some cleaning fluid and scrubbing brushes, we got stuck in.

20 minutes of scrubbing later, and with the hope we hadn't washed away a priceless Banksy, it was looking a million times better. We even discussed ways we could beautify the tunnel with a mural and some planters....watch this space! After all that work, all that was left to do was a fitness session, so we jogged over to Battersea Park to work on our balance, coordination and some sprints. These drills are really important for runners, and are often forgotten about. But by including them in workouts they can help prevent injury, highlight weak areas, and improve form.

We started off with a series of high skips, walking lunges, grapevines and fast feet - which the group made look really easy! We then moved on to some changing pace sprints, looking at the technical points of our running form. After a few conditioning exercises we moved on to stretching, and talked about our fitness goals. Don't forget that GoodGym is here to help you reach those targets!

It was a great session, and we ended up sweaty, happy, and having done some noticeable good in our local area. Well done Flo, Basia, Nicole and Faye! Hope to see you on Monday for the group run!.
