Date and time
18:00 - 19:30Canterbury GoodGym is finding its feet and you can help! If you're looking to make a difference in Canterbury, meet some like-minded people and get fit through active volunteering, come along for a 5-6km walk during which we'll be brainstorming the types of volunteering tasks we can do, the community groups we can support and how we can connect with them. There will be the option to stay for a drink in the Unicorn after the walk.
Come along if you're: * Interested in taking part in volunteering tasks organised through GoodGym * Interested in supporting the organisation of tasks as a member of Taskforce * A representative from a community group/organisation that's in need of volunteers
Who's organising this?
Hi, I'm Emily! I moved to Canterbury about 5 years ago from York, where much of my social life revolved around GoodGym. Having completed over 100 volunteering tasks with GoodGym, I've seen what a difference it can make to a city and to those who volunteer and couldn't let the opportunity pass to build a similar community here. As a Taskforce volunteer, I have taken over the organisation of Canterbury's GoodGym on a voluntary basis - but I can't do it alone! So if it's something you'd like to get involved in, come along or email me at canterbury@goodgym.org.
When are you going to organise some volunteering tasks?
I am currently reaching out to organisations that might need volunteers and hope to set up tasks on Monday evenings and occasionally at weekends within the coming weeks. In the meantime, I'll be organising social/'training' sessions to fill the gap on Monday evenings.
