The Big Braywick Heath Nurseries Clear Up - part 2

Wednesday night is GoodGym night, and this evening we are returning to Braywick Heath Nurseries for part 2 of our big clear up.

Braywick Heath Nurseries sell a lovely range of plants, but unlike most plant nurseries, they nurture people too. They provide employment, training and work experience for people with special educational needs and disabilities.

Start location and parking

We will meet at the task location so we can get cracking straight away and make the most of the light before sunset. Although there is parking on site, you may wish to park at Braywick Leisure Centre or at the free Nature Centre car park on Hibbert Road (10 minutes walk away), as the gates are likely to be locked after the task whilst we are on our run/walk.

The task

The task includes lifting a mix of wood, metal, plastic, broken furniture and other debris and moving it across the site to a skip. There is a lot to clear, so we plan to work on it for two Wednesday evenings.

Safe working

Please take care to lift heavy items safely, particularly on uneven ground. Also beware of splinters and other sharp objects during the task. Although we aim to make the most of the daylight, it will be getting darker during the task and we will run/walk after sunset, so head torches are a must.

The 'Gym' bit

After we've done our task, we'll have a warm up and head off for the 'Gym' bit of our evening. Amy will lead a 3km run/walk with intervals of running and walking. If anyone doesn't want to run at all, then we can find you a buddy for a walk. Likewise, if there are enough people wanting a longer run, then runners could buddy up and tackle the parkrun route. In short, everyone is welcome, and we will tailor the session to make sure everyone gets a workout and no one is left alone.
