Time for our monthly community mission to help City Harvest!

WHAT IS CITY HARVEST?

City Harvest helps put surplus food to good use in a sustainable way by distributing to organisations around London that feed the hungry. By volunteering with City Harvest for a couple of hours on your weekend, you will make a direct positive impact on thousands of vulnerable people in London. Because of your efforts, these people - who face obstacles including food poverty, homelessness, domestic abuse and the need to flee from their homelands – will have access to a nutritious meal. The food that is rescued would have gone to landfill where it would have released harmful greenhouse gases as it decomposed. So your days’ work will make a tremendous difference to both people and the planet!

WHAT TO EXPECT

For the task you'll be volunteering as a warehouse assistant where you will help unload food deliveries, sort food, check food, and do other general warehouse jobs to help in the day-to-day running of City Harvest.

Please dress sensibly for the day as it will involve lifting and organising trays of food. Wearing closed shoes is advisable. We will provide you with high visibility jackets and any other safety clothing.

WHERE TO MEET

The site is in Acton (Unit 22, Acton Park Industrial Estate, Acton, W3 7QE) and as always with GoodGym we encourage you to use the power of your legs to get you there! Upon arrival, please make your way onto the industrial estate and follow the signs to Unit 22. The main entrance is via Eastman Road off of The Vale.

The task is set from 12-2pm but just stay for as long as you can, if you need to leave a bit before the end that's not a problem and if you can't make midday but can arrive a bit later just let us know when to expect you.

How are you getting there?
