12 people ran 5km to help out at the Birmingham Mission Care Centre by handing out food to the homeless

On a sunny evening, it was great to welcome Neal to GoodGym Brum, it was even more exciting (for me anyway!) to find out he was a fellow Hull City supporter! I always get a bit excited when I find one in Brum, there isn’t to many of us about! It's great to have you on board!

Sausage rolls, pasties, cakes!!

Once arriving at our destination, we were greeted by John, the ‘man in charge’ at the care centre, who asked four people to help sort out all the toiletries, clothes etc that get donated while the rest of the team were serving food or helping in the kitchen. Tonight, there was not as many people to feed, therefore there was a lot of food left over meaning half the group were very keen to ‘wolf down’ some sausage rolls and cakes. Garry and Charlotte getting caught on camera! I think with the picture of the cakes we might end up with 40 runners signing up for next month’s run to the care centre!

Trying not to throw up!!

Once waistlines were ever so slightly expanded we were on our way back for the ‘infamous’ hill work! Now I’m not one to be a kill joy and to stop people enjoying a bit of cake, but I was slightly worried we might have a few people producing what some tend to release at 3am on a Saturday morning down Broad Street after one to many sherbets! However, to my surprise everyone seemed ok and as ever with the hills what a great session it was! Neal led the way showing great form getting up onto those toes and running tall. Rob was working hard as ever. Karen was excellent powering up those hills and Morwenna pushed hard all the way to the top. I could mention everyone to be honest because you were all fantastic!

Once done and everyone exhausted it was time for a gentle run back to base, for a quick stretch off.

Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
