9 people risked skin saturation and ran 3.7 miles to weed a disused plot on a Woolwich estate.

Wednesday evening was wet...very wet. It was the kind of rain that would usually put people off going outside. But we went out. We ran. We stood in a muddy estate garden and yanked weeds out of the ground. Because that's the sort of thing we like doing.

Helping Thom

Thom lives on the estate and helps manage a small fruit orchard here on the estate garden near Woolwich Community centre. There are a series of small raised beds on site too but they haven't been used in a while and they are under threat. Thom wants to see them reappeared and filled with edible goodies. We have agreed to help him over the next months.

Wee-did it

On tonight's run we helped with some weeding. We pulled up loads in the end- emptying 4 beds with enough weeds to fill 2 bins. All under a backdrop of constant rain! We finished up and helped Thom lug the tools back into his flat and we made for home. Unfortunately the tool detour completely threw my internal compass- and we spent the next 10mins jogging round the labyrinth estate trying to find an exit....Sorry guys. Just a bit of extra mileage!

The rest of the run was nice- through Maryon Park and back to the river. Nice work everyone.
