Come and help at the Sardine Festival this Sunday at Claremont Gardens (behind The Clock Tower). They are in need of marshals for the procession between 2-3pm. You’ll need to collect your high viz at the info stall, speak to Karen and receive instructions on what to do next.

Since sardines were once again introduced to the river in 2005, local people have celebrated the capture of this magical food with a festival.

  • Celebrate Surbiton’s legendary Thames sardine catch in a gloriously quirky local tradition (yes, really)
  • Live bands & entertainment all afternoon
  • Charity Bar, street food, & tasty treats plus arts & crafts stalls
  • At 2pm join the procession to the river and witness the great sardine haul
  • Finish at the iconic Sardine BBQ

2:30pm - The famous sardine catch at Queen's Promenade by Raven's Ait island

2:45pm - Sardine procession from Queen's Promenade to Claremont Gardens

3:15 - Sardine BBQ at Claremont Gardens
