A beautiful sunny bank holiday, some donated floor for a community bookshop that funds the library and a gorge 5km run.

A team of people ready to celebrate the sunshine met at Glassmill Leisure Centre lamenting the lack of Adele and saying goodbye to GoodGym Lewisham regular, Catherine. At least we were doing so in sunshine. Mega big ups to Tom and Roni having run their long training runs for various races, they still came along even with the promise of hills at the end.

This week, we 6 runners made the 2.5km jog across to [Crofton Books] , a community run bookshop which funds the community library. We met Jason who had directed us previously in removing flooring. This time around, he'd had some flooring donated. He needed us to move books off shelves (in order) to then move the books shelves and line up the new flooring.

Like our own version of crystal maze

It turns out that this task was like a lot of game shows though more productive than Pointless. We had the countdown theme tune, supermarket sweep of books as well as the different crystal maze challenges.

A few grunts, friends and chuckle brothers references and constipation noises later (unintentional and due to heavy lifting rather than anything else) and we managed it! The area looked fab and Jason even gave us 12 out of 10 for the task. I'll take that.

The task took us slightly longer than planned but we still had time for a couple of hill repeats through Hilly Fields Park. 2 full efforts up the hill with jogging recovery then a special hill climb...

The Bear Climb

On all fours, core tensed and looking a little bit silly and everyone got involved to make sure we'd worked every muscle possible.

Then we had the joy of a downwards hill jog all the way home. All agreed that hills were a bit rubbish but really useful, and then we were done.

Mega thanks to everyone for getting the job done, running on a bank holiday and making it such fun.

See you next time.
