EXACT TIME TO BE CONFIRMED: Save the date!

We are helping the British Hen Welfare Trust with their regular rehoming days where up to 200 hens will be on their way to their new families. This will be at Manor Farm.

For this role you must sign up through their website as a volunteer before you can attend. Please sign up here and mention you are with Southampton GoodGym:

https://www.bhwt.org.uk/get-involved/volunteer-application/

They will then contact you with a short phone call just to go through what happens on the day and answer any questions you might have.

Jobs can include:

Loading hens at the farm. Unloading hens at the re-homing point. Lifting heavy crates. Nail clipping. Crate cleaning. Monitoring hens for wellbeing. Hen cuddling! Helping rehomers with car parking.

Please note you do not have to be hands on with the hens if you don’t want to. Jobs can also be rotated on the day so you can do a mixture of tasks. Please wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty and appropriate footwear for the farm as it maybe muddy and slippery. Also I would recommend bringing a drink and a snack/lunch as it is a longer session. There is a cafe on site if you would like to buy something.

Please let us know what time you can come if you can’t make the whole session so the organiser can plan around this.

The farm can be accessed through River Hamble Country Park. Pass through the barriers and follow signs all the way along the road to the farm. Volunteers get a code for free parking.
