The weekend had provided almost perfect running conditions in Ipswich with cool temperatures, little breeze, dazzling sunshine and bright blue skies.

So it was slightly annoying to be met with an irritating drizzle for our short run to Brickmakers Wood tonight, but it didn't dampen our Goodgym spirit.

On arrival Jo explained that our task was likely to get us dirty as they needed us to move a massive amount of accumulated rubbish, old wood etc. out of a storage area and into a skip.

Jo gave the option of using thick gloves and some overalls which looked like the outfits forensic scientists wear when investigating a murder scene! Susan was very keen to don the overalls and in the darkness she resembled remarkably ghostlike figure.

The mountain of rubbish was transported using a number of wheelbarrows and even a couple of shopping trollies. We developed a very efficient system of wheeling items across the lane and tipping the contents directly into the skip.

It wasn't long before the skip was as full as it could possibly be and the whole area cleared and swept - boy was it dusty! We had completed the task in around 15 minutes.

On previous visits to Brickmakers Wood we had helped saw up some tree trunks to make firewood, which the charity sell. So with some free time remaining Jo and Rob produced some saws and the Goodgym gang began to saw and saw, producing lots of logs.

We stopped off on the return run for some circuit training under the quayside floodlights, completing sets of planks, to go with the sawing wood theme of the evening, mixed with shuttle runs and lunges, before rounding the evening off with a few stretches back at base.

Thanks to Lucy for tonight's title pun!

Next week's task is still to be confirmed, but is likely to be another short run. Keep and eye on the Website for more info later in the week.
