Merton Garden Streets and Community Growing ProjectsAn area of Queen Mary Avenue in Lower Morden is in need of some extra GoodGym muscle to clear the weeds and avoid the glyphosate (weed killer) spraying which the Merton Garden Streets team have opted out of; however this is subject to managing the weeds by hand!
We will be meeting Syebvonne and a few other MGS street coordinators at the Canon Hill Lane end, closer to/outside #1 Queen Mary Avenue to simply weed our way through this task. Be mindful of pollinating plants and tree pits which have been planted up, we are only looking to tidy up the weeds around the area, along the pavement/road to minimise the need for spraying.
More about Merton Garden Streets (MGS) The Merton Garden Streets scheme is a Sustainable Merton project which is volunteer-led by local residents and businesses in the borough of Merton to make our streets greener.
Through encouraging street and front garden planting, together we are improving community well-being and delivering important environmental benefits, such as increasing wildlife, improving air quality, and helping to prevent flooding.
