The great eight took to the streets of Penge, covering just under 3km to paint a room at Melvin Hall.

Thank you Louise for our lovely title pun!

It's now dark as we meet in the garden at the Bridge House, how long until we move our meeting point inside?! This evening we were celebrating the achievements of Louise, Ian and Clare. Louise for reaching her 25th coach visit and Ian and Clare for running through wind and rain on Sunday, to complete the Royal Parks Half-Marathon (Ian even bagged himself a PB!). Well done all of you.

It's been a while since we visited Melvin Hall, so we were pleased to be returning and catching up with all the work they've been doing in the space. After a little warm-up amongst the just-alighted-their-train commuters, we ran down the High Street and towards Melvin Road. Our job for this evening was to paint a small room white. This room will be used for storage and was definitely in need of a lick of paint!

The walls we were to paint were a mixture of colours, with bright yellow dominating (taking us back to the days when we spent a few visits covering some peach walls here). It was cosy, so our group of eight was spot on for this task, with everyone grabbing some paint, a roller or a brush and tackling a surface. There was lots of chatter about where and when to go for our Christmas social (again - we really need to decide!), talk about our upcoming community mission (sign up here) and a general feeling that we will be coming back here to give these walls a few more coats! We were very careful not to drip paint on the lovely new floor in the next room as we took our equipment to be washed, before heading towards the recreation ground for a little fitness session.

Clare and Ian both had Tuesday Legs (post-race DOMS, it's evil), so were excused from PE this week, but our two pairs pitted themselves, girls against boys, in a match of strength and agility. It was a tense race, with moments of great determination (and shaking), but our girls pipped the boys to the post, to take the win. Good work!

Next week is a big one, with a visit to the wonderful Living Well, where we will help sort through donations at the foodbank. We might also have not one, but two milestones to celebrate, so sign up here, it's going to be EPIC!
