47 amazing runners ran 5k, packed over 2000 condom packs for the Terence Higgins Trust and completed a fitness session too!

Whilst Paul was away recuperating from his amazing sub-3hr Frankfurt Marathon efforts (have you seen his roar?) Polly and Pritesh took charge of GoodGym Camden and it was immediately clear that they were far more popular as 47 runners turned up to help pack condoms for Terence Higgins Trust.

After a slightly haphazard intro speech from Pritesh we headed around the corner to do some dynamic stretches and get warmed up on what was a surprisingly chilly night.

Shoo those chickens

With such a large group tonight we split into two with one group taking a more direct 1 mile route and the others taking a longer 1.5 mile route to the charity. Once there the task was outlined - condom, lube, leaflet into the packs and stickers to close them up - we split over the various tables and got going!

Condom, lube, leaflet, sticker!

With half an hour to work everyone got really stuck into the task, various techniques, systems and methods were used and hundreds and hundreds of packs were being made! With Polly and Pritesh working the room to keep stocks of everything topped up and ensure that no energy was going to waste we monstered through the task. We didn't get a final number but over 2000 packs were made up which is an amazing help to the charity as these packs will be distributed at various HIV testing events and for World AIDS Day on the 1st December.

Indian file

After we'd cleared up and got everyone stopped we posed for a great group photo and then headed out from the building, we had a little spare time so we headed to Russell Square for a bit of a fitness session! Polly took charge and had us doing a static indian file, we formed two orderly lines (eventually) and then the fun started. This was a static indian file in only the sense that everyone wasn't running, instead those who were stationary first did squats whilst everyone ran round and then we repeated it with some bum flicks too! Everyone was encouraged to shout out their favourite place to run as they ran to the front! A nice high intensity work out before we headed back to base.

With the short run to Somers Town done we had a good old stretch off and finished with a deserved round of applause - a fantastic effort from everyone!

Thanks from Polly and Pritesh - Paul will be back next week! Please sign up for the run here - we're headed to Cecil Sharp House!
