Why do Good Gym reports have all those puns in them?

Because it makes reading them such a re-wording experience.

THE SENSIBLE BIT

17 Good Gymers helped the ECHO charity shop, by Manor Fields, on its journey to become “a community hub offering support, friendship and, of course, good quality second-hand clothes”.

Most had already done the Hillsborough Park Run (respect people) and it was great to have the visiting York members join us – we should all do more GG tourism.

ECHO is a second-hand clothes shop run by the Manor & Castle Development Trust at York House. It supports local people through free classes in wellbeing, job seeking, singing, exercise and much more.

Our very own Charlotte has taken on this project and needs all the help she can get –it’s a mammoth task. Please support her on future missions – this is on the scale of painting the Forth Bridge / Abbeydale Picture House*

HERE COME THE PUNS

Lots of people had promised to help her, including a group of lobsters, crabs and prawns - but they didn’t turn up … they’re so shellfish. Nevertheless, Team GG were on the case.

The team sorted an incredible amount of clothing, working really well as a clothes-knit unit – or sew it seamed. Was that hard work ethic in their jeans or were they keeping something up their sleeves?

There was also a box of shoes to organise out but the vegans didn’t want to sort through the leather shoes – and couldn’t be suede to do so. Why knot, I thought, I’ll do the Velcro ones.

Near the end of our work a lady came into the shop saying she was a psychic and wanted to buy a shirt.

Charlotte said “Of course, how about this one?”

“No” she said, “that one is too small for me”.

Charlotte, somewhat bemused, asked, “How do you know? You didn’t even try it on?”.

   “Because”, she replied, “I’m a medium” …

*But achievable.
